Work AI
Work AI describes systems built to complete tasks across a company’s tools, rather than to answer questions about them.
The distinction is where the system stops. A question-answering tool ends at the answer, and a person does the work implied by it: writing the email, updating the record, filing the ticket. Work AI is measured on whether that follow-through happened.
That changes what the system needs. Answering requires retrieval. Finishing requires knowing which system to write to, holding the permissions to do it, understanding how the company does that particular task, and stopping for approval where it matters. Most of the difficulty in work AI sits in those requirements rather than in the reasoning.
